Let’s talk content strategy...

One of the most important elements to have in place is a solid content strategy - and you need to have it in place before you can get on with actually creating your content!

Your content strategy should be made up of many things – the essentials include: the times and days to post, your brand voice, your creative direction, and your content pillars.

Let’s begin with SMART goals! What are they?

SMART stands for

  • Specific,

  • Measurable,

  • Attainable

  • Relevant

  • Time-based

Sticking to SMART goals will allow you to focus on the important things and narrow down your ideas when brainstorming for content. It’s important to make sure that each piece of content you produce will align with your SMART goals, as they're there to help you achieve your marketing efforts. SMART goals will allow you to breakdown your overarching goal into simple steps that will make it much easier to achieve.

The more specific you are, the better!

Here’s an example of SMART goals if your business’ major goal is to grow a mailing list.

Specific – to build a list of 100 email subscribers by offering a lead magnet

Measurable – New subscribers can be monitored using web analytics

Attainable – enough people have expressed interest in, and are requesting the lead magnet

Relevant – people who sign up for the lead magnet are ideal customers - being email subscribers can potentially became sales leads

Time – this should be achieved within three months

Moving on to...

So - what are content pillars?

They're the different topics that each piece of content you create will focus on, and they're a really important part of your social media strategy! They'll help you to keep your content consistent and stick to your niche...
